How To Pinpoint Narcissistic Traits?

narcissistic traits

Have you experienced being with someone who constantly craved your attention? Initially, it was gratifying due to the belief that it rendered you indispensable. This fresh individual caused you to feel exceptional in contrast to how your family casually regarded you. The joy derived from this relationship was beyond words. It resembled a scene from your cherished film, surpassing the intensity and memorability of previous relationships. Doubts never crossed your mind. Their openness and transparency made you at ease, creating a sense of comfort in their presence. Then, a certain day marks the onset of a change in their demeanor. Messages that used to greet you in the early hours are now delayed until late afternoon. The once prevailing candor begins to recede. Gradually, you detect falsehoods slipping from their lips. In a state of bewilderment, uncertainty creeps in, and you find yourself questioning: What is unfolding?

You’re being prepared and conditioned to cater to a narcissistic individual. In simpler terms, narcissistic people envision themselves as a deity, yearning to receive adoration and subservience. They project a false image to lure you towards them, presenting themselves as someone they’re not. You never noticed the red flags because the relationship was going well. But what you have experienced at the beginning of this newfound love is narcissistic grooming. The most common narcissistic traits are obsessive attention-seeking, pleasure-seeking, and gaslighting.

Here’s how to pinpoint narcissistic traits?

  1. Listen to how many times they say “I or Me.” A narcissist will always draw attention to themselves.
  2. Look to see if they are seeking too much attention upfront. A narcissist will always solicit praise and admiration from you.
  3. Ask yourself these questions? Does their company make me uncomfortable? Do I sense an inferiority to them when around? Do I experience a sense of being devalued and dismissed by them? If you’ve responded affirmatively to all these questions, you are likely grappling with a narcissistic individual.

Remember that recognizing narcissistic traits is just the first step. If you suspect someone in your life exhibits these behaviors, it’s essential to consider your own well-being and seek support from friends, family, or professionals as needed. Building awareness empowers you to navigate relationships more confidently and make choices that align with your emotional health.

Self-awareness plays a crucial role in recognizing the kind of individual you’re becoming entangled with. Refrain from succumbing too swiftly to tactics designed to captivate you, much like how a vampire entices its quarry.
